REGS 3 MAY 07

WHITEHALL GARDENS,

LONDON, S. W. 2nd May, 1907.

Radford & Co.

I have the honour to enclose a copy of an enquiry which has been shown us by the Society of Apothecaries touching the supply of drugs to Hong Kong.

2. We are aware that a quantity of Government stores are procured from local firms in contravention of the Colonial Regulations, but up till recently orders for drugs have been sent to us. If the Colonial Government are dissatisfied with the quality or the prices of the drugs supplied by us we think that they should have addressed us on the subject, and we shall be glad if the Secretary of State would enquire into this matter as well as the question of local purchase generally. We may add that with the approval of the Secretary of State, drugs have hitherto been purchased exclusively from the Society of Apothecaries, but if the Colonial Government evince a decided preference for any other firm we should be prepared to meet them in this respect.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your obedient servant,

Usaman

The Under-Secretary of State,

etc., etc., etc.,

Colonial Office.
